Baseball Jackets – Perfect for Varsity Style

This season seems to have seen a massive influx of varsity baseball style jackets appear across a few of the brands available on Mainline Menswear. If you want to take on the preppy, very American look then brands such as Criminal Damage, Replay, Original Penguin and Voi are for you. Alongside these brands you can also find additional preparatory style clothing from the designer prep clothiers themselves Franklin & Marshall.

The Letterman jacket look is definitely one for teenagers and young twenty somethings, and when matched with chinos or tapered jeans and hi tops looks particularly good. Mixing the baseball jacket with a polo shirt or t shirt keeps the look casual, and depending on the detail on the front of the jacket will depend on the amount of detail you place on the t shirt you’re wearing. For example the Replay and Original Penguin varsity jackets have very little on the front, and are a simple, basic colour, so to add some imagination to the outfit you’d add a colourful t shirt, or something with a good graphic on the front such as a DSL55, Adidas Originals or Amplified before matching with the above mentioned. Plimsolls can also be substituted for high tops if they’re not quite your thing.

If you read any of the good fashion blogs you’ll quickly see that the baseball jacket has appeared ever so slightly over the past season or so, and now moving into the winter, and with a new selection of brands hitting Mainline Menswear the baseball jacket has become a key style for the young lads visiting the site. The whole brand mix is aimed at a variety of styles, so if you’re wanting the full key look you can place any of the above brands with chinos or jeans from G Star, Humor and Luke 1977, and footwear from a variety of places including Nike, Adidas Originals and Puma Archive as well as some styles of Lacoste and even plimsolls from Superga or Lyle and Scott. Every budget for the style is catered for, so pick your favourite brands and grab yourself the sporty and preppy baseball jacket look this season.
