The autumn weather is definitely here, and the wind and rain and dark days are starting to become a usual daily sight. With fashionable men around the UK and Europe needing to get around the town you’ll need to be investing in at least a hat and scarf if not gloves as well depending on how cold it gets where you live. With such a large range of beanies, bobble hats, trappers, scarves, snoods and gloves available on Mainline Menswear you won’t be cold this season.
There are quite a few options available from some of the top designer names around, meaning that you can easily pick up some matching sets from Lyle and Scott, Original Penguin and Ralph Lauren while you can also find leather gloves from Hugo Boss and Belstaff, fur lined hats from Diesel and a full range of ribbed, knitted or woven scarves. So what are you looking for this season? The hats, scarves and gloves designs are always pretty timeless with the brands simply changing their colours and branding to keep things fresh. Styles to look for this season include the different types of knits, with fairisle knits being found on jumpers, cardigans, hats, scarves and even socks making it possibly the most popular knit style.
You can use the hats, scarfs and gloves combo to add colour to an outfit, with a whole range of blue, red, orange and green shades available that can be matched with a dark outfit or winter coat. Similarly, you can also match the hats, scarves and gloves with the coat so expect to find the usual suspects in black, grey, navy and khaki. With hat designs for all ages, styles and uses and gloves of the knitted and leather variety the scarf is a much more intriguing piece of clothing, with a variety of ways to wear it. The five best can be found here, but if you have a more inventive way then go for it!
The most obvious is the ‘Classic Flip’ where the scarf is worn with both ends facing down, then throw one end over your shoulder, simple and effective. ‘Traditional’ dates back to the fifties and sixties where gents wore the scarf simple draped over the neck, no flicks, flips or ties simple method with a classy outcome. The ‘Loose Double Flip’ requires quite a long scarf and sees the knitted or cotton scarf wrapped loosely once or twice around the neck for extra warmth. One for the younger lads is the ‘Modern Knot’ which sees a colourful scarf with fringing hang down the front of your coat or jumper and is tied with a simple knot at the back. The most popular, and my personal favourite, is the ‘Parisian Knot’ which sees the scarf folded in two lengthways, draped around the neck and then tightened by passing the loose end through the loop. This design is both simple and easy to adjust if it’s cold!
So there you have it the majority of the brands on Mainline Menswear have the autumn and winter covered for you in 2011 with a wide variety of designs and styles of hats, scarves and gloves so why not pick yourself up a couple of winter warmers, and practice wearing your scarf.
